Brno 1929 (11th Congress of the Czechoslovak Chess Union = Czechoslovak championship).

Group photo of all 12 participants + 2 other persons. Size 13.5 x 8.5 cm. The weight 10 grams.

 

The photo was published in the magazine Casopis ceskoslovenskych sachistu 1929, page 129.

Good to very good:  light general signs of use, no flaws. Light wear to the top right corner. Rear side is slightly rubbed near the bottom left corner. Stamp of the tournament on the back.

 

The persons in the photo are:

a) staying:  Karel Opocensky (the winner), August Haida, Josef Hasek, Stanislav Sery (=nickname of Stanislav Jares), Ludvik Burian, Frantisek Dedrle (chess composer, not a participant);

b) sitting: Amos Pokorny, Josef Rejfir, Leo Zobel(?), Rudolf Prochazka (chairman of the Brno chess county, not a participant), Jan Schulz, Rudolf Mikulka, Ferdinand Krticka(?), Vaclav Grguric;

12 players round robin, the winner was Opocensky ahead of Schulz, Pokorny, Rejfir, Hasek etc.
