DESCRIPTION

Praha 1952 chess tournament

organized by chess club Aljechin Praha

game master Zita (right) – Vranek

photo 18 x 13 cm

The photo is from the tournament, which was organized by chess club Aljechin Praha. After communist putsch in February 1948, the club was renamed and in time of the tournament it had strange name: „chess club Aljechin – CKD Stalingrad Praha“.

The photo shows the game between Frantisek Zita (right, as White) against Bozetech Vranek.

A report about this tournament can be find in the Ceskoslovensky sach 1953, page 4 (1.Pithart, 2.-3.Zita, Alster etc., 12 players).

Good to very good: light edgewear, light general signs of use, no flaws. Erasable pencil notices on the back.

Biographical data:

Frantisek Zita (1909-1977), Czech IM, 2x co-winner of Czech(oslovak) championship, multiple winner of Prague chess championship. Zita was strong positional player, took part on 5 chess olympiads.

Bozetech Vranek (1908-1983), strong Prague player.

The photo meassures 18 x 13 cm and here is the picture close to its real size:
