Alfons der Weise. Das spanische Schachzabelbuch des Königs Alfons des Weisen vom Jahre 1283 :
Illustrated manuscript in possession of the Royal Library of the Escorial. Replica of the manuscript. Leipzig, Hiersemann, 1913. Folio. This is only part 2 of the replica! With 98 from total 194 (the first 96 prints are included in part 1) black and white photoprints with photographic reproductions of the manuscript. The title page and introduction were issued only in part 1. Brown half leather strap. Comp. Linde - N. 344; on the meaning of the manuscript see van der Linde I, 137 ff. and 278 ff. The manuscript is the "oldest European charter of chess" dated 1283. Print on tinted paper. This is a very big (~50x35 cm) and heavy (~5,5kg) book. See the comparism picture with a book out of the White Christmas series, which is no part of this auction lot. Very rare edition.
Condition : Corners and edges slightly bumped and rubbed. Front bookcover very slightly bowed. Edges slightly soiled and very slight foxing. Otherwise inside very nice and clean. Overall Condition = Good!

One feature is that the shipment costs are defined via the the longest and the shortest side of the parcel. The weight isn´t important although it is limited to 31,5 kg. The parcel is also insured up to € 500,-.
