DESCRIPTION

Agdestein. Wunderjunge.

At the age of 13, 4 months and 26 days, Magnus Carlsen became the youngest chess grandmaster in the world. The scenery for this legendary record: Dubai. The date: 26 April 2004. After this masterpiece, the international press sparked a storm of enthusiasm. The Washington Post even awarded the Norwegian wunderkind the title "Mozart of Chess".

The Magnus mania reached its first climax a few weeks earlier when he beat former world champion Anatoly Karpov in Reykjavik and unleashed a tie for Garry Kasparov. After losing another game against number one in the chess world, 13-year-old Magnus commented without a trace of irony, "I played like a kid."
