Rebound in half-leather with marbled boards. Very good condition.

The chess treatise that swept aside all before it, with general instructions, 220 pages of openings with illustrative games throughout, 100 pages of endings and 26 "Curious Chess Problems".
This is the second edition, revised; issued a year after the first edition of 1847.
