DESCRIPTION

Welcome to my sale of chess periodicals.

The Chess Amateur Volumes I, II, and III, 1906 to 1909, edited by W. Moffatt.

Plus The Chess Player's Scrap Book, by Emanuel Lasker, Volume I, No. 1, and The Chess Amateur Supplement No. 1, January 1909, on the Lasker v Tarrasch World's Championship Match 1908.

This massive tome has the original front and back boards which have been loosely rebacked while retaining inside the original Chess Amateur spine cover. The first page of the Index for volume I is partially loose and creased, but the rest of the bookblock of 1,200 pages is tightly bound and very good.

This combined volume includes the following:

The Chess Amateur, volume I, October 1906 to September 1907, 384 pages plus 6 pages of Indexes. Lacking title page but copy provided, followed by:

The Chess Player's Scrap Book, edited by Emanuel Lasker, volume I, No. 1, January 1907, 16 pages plus covers, Betts 7-55, followed by:

The Chess Amateur, volume II, October 1907 to September 1908, title page, 6 page index and 384 pages, followed by:

The Chess Amateur, volume III, October 1908 to September 1909, 384 pages, no title page or index, followed by:

The Chess Amateur Supplement, No. 1, January 1909, Games Played in the World's Championship match, 1908, Lasker v Tarrasch, with comments and notes by Isidor Gunsberg. 16 pages, Betts 27-27.

Many interesting articles, games, problems, correspondence, book reviews, etc., with contributions by Carslake Winter-Wood, C. T. Blanshard, F. S. Moore, W. T. Pierce, Dr. Planck, T. R. Dawson, Philip H. Williams, F. Baird, Alain C. White, John Keeble, W. Moffatt, W. S. Branch, and many others.
