Welcome to my sale of chess periodicals.
The Chess Amateur, January to December 1929.
Bound in publisher's green cloth with gilt titles on front cover and spine. Very good condition.
This volume includes title page and index for volume XXIII, issues January to September 1929 of volume XXIII and issues October to December 1929 of volume XXIV. 292 pages in total.
Although the volume numbers covered October to September, bound volumes for calendar years were frequently issued.
The usual mix of articles, correspondence, games, problems, news, obituaries, fairy chess and book reviews, with contributions by W. A Fairhurst, C. S. Kipping, T. R. Dawson, D. Love and others.
The Chess Amateur lasted for just six more months before closing in June 1930.
