"DE SCHAAKKOERIER" 1984-1999

NIEUWSBRIEF VAN DE MOTIEFGROEP SCHAKEN

 COMPLETE RUN OF NUMBERS 2-46

Motiefgroep Schaken: "DE SCHAAKKOERIER". NIEUWSBRIEF VAN DE MOTIEFGROEP SCHAKEN. 1984-1999. Numbers 2-46. Although in the title in spine it says "Motiefgroep Schaken 1985-1999", numbers 2-3 of 1984 are present.

Motiefgroep Schaken, 1984-1999. Pretty blue binding with the golden title printed on the spine. Individual pagination of each number, with different number of pages total for each number. 21,2 x 16,2. In Dutch.

Excellent: Minor defects. About a third of the numbers are photocopies, mainly the first numbers, but of good quality. Some pages (about twenty or thirty) have been cut excessively on their outer side margin, and most have lost the last letter of some lines, and very few 2 letters. Pages 3-6 of the number 5, are duplicated, placed correctly in the number 5, but also incorrectly between pages 2-3 of the number 4. The numbers 2 and 3 are photocopied on one side, and are incorrectly placed. The correct order should be the following: the fourth sheet is actually the first, the first is actually the second, the third is well placed, and the second is actually the fourth.

The following article appeared in the jubilee number, number 50, of the "Schaakkoerier":

- number 1, somewhere in 1983 or 1984; (almost) no one anymore

- number 2, the numbering (probably also later) made by hand, is the number in which Niek Cranendonk and Sjoerd van Ketel announce the birth of the new club

- number 3 is the first number with the name of the new association in the header; Motiefgroep Schaakfilatelie

- number 4, meanwhile June 1985, is the first number, with as logo / vignette (thanks to Jan Struylaart) the now used checkered horse. Also in this number the first images; all chess stamps released in 1984

It is possible to read it completely, in Dutch, at the following link: http://www.euwe.nl/koerier49.htm

Also, is very interesting the following articleappeared in another jubilee number, number 98, of the "Schaakkoerier", about the birth of "Motiefgroep Schaakfilatelie", and to understand why the number 1 is practically impossible to find. Actually we could say that the magazine was born with number 4 in 1985, and that the first 3 numbers (number 1 in 1983 and numbers 2-3 in 1984) are announcements to start the journey of "Motiefgroep Schaakfilatelie". The article is:

25 jaar Motiefgroep Schaken

On February 25, 1984, 35 specific chess stamp collectors gathered in 'Ons Huis' halls center in Geldermalsen and it was decided in a meeting to set up an association: Motiefgroep Schaakfilatelie.
Nick Cranendonk responded to a mini-advertisement called 'Anno Annonce' in the stamp sheet 'de Filatelist' by Sjoerd C. van Ketel who asked Chess Postage Stamps (end of 1983). Both collectors came together and also knew other Chesspost stamp and chess postmark collectors. They decided to organize a trade fair in Geldermalsen. The meeting was announced and included in the agenda of the magazine via a new advertisement in the magazine 'de Filatelist' (February 1984).

It is possible to read it completely, in Dutch, at the following linkhttp://www.euwe.nl/25jaar.htm . It is easy to deduce that the number 1 is Cranendonk's answer to van Ketel. Therefore, practically nobody has it.
