DESCRIPTION

Løfberg, Jan. Larsen.

This exclusive book is the first volume in the ultimate work on the Danish chess master Bent Larsen (1935-2010). The biography, richly illustrated with contemporary photos, takes care of both man and chess player Bent Larsen. Bind 1 is also the fascinating report on his chess career from Holstebro's childhood years to the breakthrough as a candidate for the World Cup in Chess. Bent Larsen has greatly contributed with comments and notes to his chess games. This work gives a new, different and multifaceted image of the person behind the chess pieces. More than 50 people have been interviewed. Each has contributed with material: anecdotes, games and private photographs. There are descriptions of Bent Larsen's childhood, schooling, high school and leisure life. The focus is directed against the existential choice that the engineering student and chess player faced, before the board game emerged as winner. 1110 pages. Many photos and diagrams. Algebraic notation. Danish text.
