DESCRIPTION

Josef Paboucek:

Chess problems 1925 - 1937

Praha 1937

No. 50 of 50 signed/numbered copies

Paboucek, Josef: Sachove ulohy 1925 - 1937.

Praha, published by Sachovy klub odbocky Svazu cs. dustojnictva, 1937. Orig. hardcover with no dust jacket, as issued. Frontispiece (portrait of Josef Paboucek), (4), 104 pages. Size 19 cm. 210 grams. In Czech. LN 2799, Soukup 76, Mokry 71.

Near Fine / dust jacket not issued: bottom corner of the front cover slightly bumped, otherwise like new. Text is clean and with no writings.

The book contains 103 problems of Josef Paboucek from 1925-1937. Czech composer Josef Paboucek was born in 1890, in Kocanda. He was an army officer (colonel). Almost nothing is known about his life or chess activity after 1940.

All problems are diagrammed, with place and date of first publication and solutions. Of 103 problems, 91 are three-movers, 7 four-movers, 2 two-movers and 3 selfmates.

The book was published in limited edition of 200 copies, of which 150 copies were unnumbered, published as paperback. The other 50 copies were hardbound,  numbered and signed by the author.

Our book is one of 50 numbered copies, its number is 50. It is signed by the author in pen below his portrait. „plk“ in front of the signature means „plukovnik“ (=colonel).
