IV. Internationales Schachmeisterturnier Karlsbad 1929, Nimzowitsch / Spielmann / Becker / Tartakower / Brinckmann / Kmoch
Wiener Schachzeitung, Wien 1929
422 pp. / hardback
In Karlsbad 1929, 22 of the strongest players of that period competed, including former world champion Capablanca and future world champion Euwe. Only three players were missing: Aljechin and Lasker politely declined the invitation, and Réti sadly passed away in June 1929.
The tournament was won by Nimzowitsch (15/21), half a point before Capablanca and Spielmann.
This is a beautiful copy of the famous tournament book. It contains a number of photographs and a preface by Hans Kmoch. Every round is discussed and every game analysed by one of the stated authors.
