DESCRIPTION

Das Schach und seine asiatischen Verwandten.

Exhibition des Museums für Völkerkunde Dresden (2008). Exhibition Catalogue.

The exhibition showed the oldest evidence of chess culture in Central Germany and travels on to South Asia to the precursors and variants of chess, which were played in the villages with the simplest of game materials and, among other things, played on the ground with drawn lines.

But also precious and rare things could be admired. In addition to richly decorated game boards chess was played with the finest materials, as the Indian ivory figures from the North Indian Rajasthan prove.

Pamphlet. 60 pages. Printed on high quality acid free paper.
