Book on the exhibition arranged by Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Hardback, with many full color illustrations. 76 pages. 2006.
Among the showpieces of the exhibition was a.o. the original chess table on which Spasski and Fischer played their legendary World Cup fight in 1972. An Enigma, symbolizing the achievements of English chess players in the decoding of German encryption machines during the Second World War. Another highlight was the replica of the famous Chess Turk, which was borrowed from the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum. Numerous other exhibits highlight the transformation of society over more than 800 years of cultural history.
