DESCRIPTION

Zarehtal muj vrany kun

by Remislav Patovsky

Chess humor and problem chess

Praha, self-edition, 1944

Patovsky, Remislav (pseudonym): Zarehtal muj vrany kun..

(Praha, author's self-edition, 1944). Orig. softcover. Mimeographed on cheap paper, 80 pages. Size 21 cm. 110 grams. In Czech. Soukup 83; LN 2880; Mokry 229.

Still Good: spine is partially missing. Front cover has a small defect/crease at fore-edge. Pages are normally browned by age but clean, with no writings.

The book consists of 2 parts – the first has a subtitle Sachova groteska (Chess Grotesque, p.1-44) and tells about the history of chess in humorous form - all facts (inclusive bibliography) are fictional.

The second part (page 45-80) has no title - it contains 30 positions for solving - some of them are problems, some are positions from normal play. The authors of the problems are not given.

The title can be translated in English like "My black horse has neighed..". Author’s name, Remislav Patovsky, is a pseudonym (Pat = Stalemate in English). Who is the real author of this book is not known.

A scarce book, which almost does not appear in the market. For example, so far I know, it was never auctioned in the Klittich-Pfankuch auctions.

The LN collection has it but it is missing in the Cleveland Public Library and I did not find a copy in major Czech libraries (inclusive the Czech National Library).
