Chocen 1942 (International Master tournament).

Group photo (photographer Matousek, Chocen) of participants of the Master tournament and other players and guests, 46 persons in all. Size 14 x 9 cm. The weight 10 grams. 

The photo was published in the magazine Sach 1942, no.9, p.126

Very good:  light general signs of use, no flaws.

The signatures on the back are in 2 columns.

Left column:

dr. Jaromir Florian, Josef Dobias, Hans Keller, Karel Hromadka, Bedrich Thelen, Gustav Tikovsky, Fritz Saemisch. 

Right column:

Emil Richter, Jaroslav Sajtar, Frantisek Zita, Miroslav Katetov (the winner, 8,5 of 11). 

The only participant who is not signed is Cenek Kottnauer. 

 

The persons in the photo are:

a) the top row:  first from the left Karel Opocensky (a guest), 6 unrecognized persons, Oldrich Malcanek (a guest, strong Olomouc player, with glasses, near the tree), 5 unrecognized persons.

b) the other 33 persons in the front, from left to right: master Amos Pokorny (a guest), ???, Jaroslav Sajtar(?), ???, ???, ???, Zdenek Martinek (tournament director), ???, ???, Bedrich Thelen (in black suit), ???, ???, Miroslav Katetov (in the front, next to Thelen, with glasses), master Josef Louma (a guest), ???,  Otakar Krulis-Randa (next to Katetov, re-elected chairman of the Czechoslovak Chess Union = UJCS), ???, Hans Keller (in the front, next to Krulis-Randa), ???, ???, ???, Fritz Saemisch (next to Keller),  Karel Hromadka (behind Saemisch), Frantisek Zita, ???, ???, Emil Richter, Gustav Tikovsky (with glasses, in the front), dr. Jaromir Florian, Josef Dobias, ???, ???, ???.
