DESCRIPTION

1846 CHRIST. FRIEDR. GOTTL. THON'S

MEISTER IM SCHACHSPIEL

RARE AND VERY HARD TO FIND!!

By Christ. Friedr. Gottl. Thon

Thon, Christian Friedrich Gottlieb: "Christ. Friedr. Gottl. Thon's Meister im Schachspiel" und zwar sowohl im gewöhnlichen Schach zu nur zwei, als auch zu vier Personen auf zweierlei Art, sowie im großen Kriegs- und sogenanntem Courierspiele, sowohl nach der alten, wie auch nach der neuern verbesserten Methode. Nebst einem schön lithographirten, modernen großen Schachbrete mit 32 verschiedenen Rösselsprüngen von Ign. Bernh. Montag.

Weimar, Druck und Lithographie von B. Fr. Voigt, 1846. Private marbled half cloth binding with gold Title in spine. 150 pages + 2 publisher pages + 1 folded lithography. 17,5 x 11 cm. In German.

Poor to fair: The biggest, and very important defect, is the "footprint" that has left in the book, presumably, a fire and the water used for its extinction. In spite of everything, and although in pages 139-140 and 145-146, in the upper edge, a part of the paper is missing, it is a complete copy, without loss of text. At the bottom of the Title Page there are a couple of signatures, but I do not recognize any. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY TO MAKE AN EXACT IDEA OF THE BOOK CONDITION, AS ALL THE DEFECTS ARE PHOTOGRAPHED.

This it is the third edition of the book of Thon, published for the first time in 1840, but this third edition is very difficult to obtain and is an expanded edition.

Current value of the fourth edition (1852), according to "David DeLucia's Chess Library. A Few Old Friends. Second Edition. 2007": $300-$500.

NOT IN Linde - N.!!

AN AUTHENTIC RARITY, RARE, VERY SCARCE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND!! In my life I have only seen this book 1 time for sale!! In the 28 editions of the Klittich-Pfankuch Auktion that I know, 2003 November - 2006 June, and 2008 November - 2018 November, a copy of this book was never auctioned!!
