Stamford (Connecticut), The Overbrook Press, 1945. Original publisher's brown cloth edition with gilt lettering to spine. Includes loosely inserted the 4-page unnumbered diptych "A NOTE OF THANKS" FROM ALAN WHITE + 1 blank sheet + 8 unnumbered pages (including Half Title page, Portrait with tissue guard, Title page, Preface and Printer's Note) + 77 pages + 1 unnumbered publisher page + 2 blank sheet. 25,8 x 19,5 cm. In English. 

 

Good to very good: Minor defects in covers, although the front cover is somewhat bent at the outer side end. Inside, some slight foxing, more visible in the endpapers and the first unnumbered pages (Half Title page, Portrait, tissue guard, Title page, Preface and Printer's Note)Pages with different measures in the central and lower margins, due to the manual production of the books in the Overbrook Press Chess series. Inside the front cover there is an ex-libris of Juan Sebastián Morgado, Argentine Grand Chess Master by Correspondence, reaching the Runner-up in the 10th World Championship, behind the American Victor Palciauskas.

The PART I consists of an essay on White's works as composer, by E. W. Allen, with 20 examples, and one frontispiece with a E. B. Cook chess problem in page 2.

The PART II and PART III contains personal tributes, and appreciations of his contribution to the problem art. This part includes 129 (130 if we include the E. B. Cook chess problem of the frontispiece in page 2) specially contributed problems by 87 composers.

In total the book contains 150 chess problems (including the E. B. Cook chess problem of the frontispiece in page 2, and 151 if we include the A. White problem of the "A NOTE OF THANKS" FROM ALAN WHITE): 94 two - movers, 43 three - movers and 13 others.
