Amsterdam Candidates 1956

Very good: Light signs of use. Stamp of photographer on the back. Pen note „Lauswolt 1956“ on the back.
The Amsterdam Candidates Tournament was in Amsterdam between 27 March – 30 April.
Two rounds (10 and 11) were played in Leeuwarden, in this time the players stayed in Hotel Lauswolt (April 12-17).
Miroslav Filip (1928-2009), Czech GM, the best Czechoslovak player in 1950s, one of world's best chess players around 1960, World Championship Candidate 1956 and 1962. GM Filip is also well known as arbiter (Karpov - Korchnoi, Baguio 1978, women world championships etc).
David Bronstein (1924-2006), Soviet/Ukrainian GM, World championship candidate, was close to win the world championship in 1951, one of the wolrd’s best players between ca 1945-1970. A player of original creative style, author of the famous book on Neuhausen-Zuerich Candidates etc.
