Amsterdam Candidates 1956

large photo size 24 x 18 cm

 

Close to very good:  Light signs of use. Stamp of photographer on the back. Pen note „Leeuwarden 1956“ on the back. 

The Amsterdam Candidates Tournament was in Amsterdam between 27 March – 30 April.

Two rounds (10 and 11) were played in Leeuwarden, between April 12-17. This game is from round 10, April 14.

Boris Spassky (born 1937), World champion 1969-1972.

Miroslav Filip (1928-2009), Czech GM, the best Czechoslovak player in 1950s, one of world's best chess players around 1960, World Championship Candidate 1956 and 1962. GM Filip is also well known as arbiter (Karpov - Korchnoi, Baguio 1978, women world championships etc).
