"The Life of Philidor" by George Allen. Published in hardback by the Da Capo Press in 1971. 156pp. This volume is a reprint of the second American edition of 1863 (Betts 29-111). The book is in Good+ condition. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean. The page edge block and the internal pages are all clean and inscription free. There is no foxing in the book. The tail of the spine has a tiny area of superficial loss to the binding and the head of the spine has surface scuffing (see scans). The silver lettering along the spine is slightly faded. The boards appear brighter in the scanned images than in reality. I assume - but do not know for sure - that this volume was published without a dustjacket.
