LN 5989
Sachovy svet 1925 + 1926 (2 volumes in one book, all published).
Pardubice, 1925-1926. Contemporary half-cloth with no lettering. 120 pages (72 + 48). Size 22 cm. 310 grams. In Czech. LN 5989, Soukup 10, Mokry 244, di Felice 2080.
Fair to good: edges are rubbed, rest of older paper sticker on spine. Old stamp of the chess club Dobrusky Praha on pages 1 and 17. Page occasionally a little/somewhat soiled. In text occasionaly some pencil marks, one note in pen appears on page 1.
Both volumes are complete, title/index pages or plates were not issued. All front- and rear covers bound in. The magazine editor was known Czech problem composer Miroslav Soukup.
The magazine was published in 1925 (since August 25) fortnightly, in 1926 (January-March) monthly. It is the first Czech magazine, which is published in other town than Prague.
The magazine contains news, games, problems, studies and articles. In total, 59 games and 95 problems/studies were published.
The Sachovy svet is a rare magazine, even particular issues can be hardly found.
I estimate circulation of 200-400 copies - it is based on a few notes in the magazine. E.g. no. 2/1925, p.10: ...”In order to cover the expenses, we need 340 subscribers and we hope to get them...”.
