Very good copy, with attractive dust jacket (small paper loss at top of spine). 271pp., photos. Biographies of Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Euwe and Botvinnik and selected games from the matches they played.
With an inscription from Winter on endpaper "To Joan Doulton, may she be the next Chess Queen of England, William Winter, Jan 1954." Doulton did indeed become joint British Women's Champion in 1955, which Winter would have witnessed before he died in Dec.1955.
