This book is first russian book on chess composition!

Russian chess master and composer Ilya Schumow (1819 - 1881) was an officer of the Russian Baltic fleet and in the naval Ministry. He was considered one of the strongest Russian chess players of his time and played several competitions against Urusov, Jänisch, Winawer and Petrov. In 1869 he was involved in the founding of the St. Petersburg chess society.

Schumow created about 200 chess compositions, some with entertainment or political connotations. The present edition is the first Russian book about chess problems. Text in Russian and French. Condition: some yellowed from time spots, but the content is clean,  good condition.

Very scarce item and new beautifully bound.
