In parallel with the Candidates tournament in Montpellier 1985, there was an open tournament with 380 players, of them 60 foreigners.
From round 2, 27 October 1985, there is Roland Weill's (France) score sheet signed by both players (in fact to leaves) from his game against Lars Karlsson (Sweden).
From round 6, 31 October 1985, there are both player's score sheets in the game Gildardo García (Colombia) - Gyözö Forintos (Hungary) signed by both players.
The tournament was won by Paul van der Sterren and Yacov Murey 8/9, before Cebalo, Gildardo García, Jadoul, Sorm and Vaisman 7½.
