London – England, January 4 – June 28, 1851. 27 loose leaves + (4) pages title/index for 1851 + 1 leaf with „Prospectus“, all disbound from a volume. Very large size ca 40 x 28 cm. The weight 290 grams. In English. Whyld page 207.

The text of one column (02/04) is only in a photocopy, otherwise Good or better:  light/some general wear, no major flaws.

Editor not stated (Howard Staunton according to Whyld).

The magazine was published weekly. There were 28 columns published in this volume. 27 of them are present, the column from 2 April (no.478) is missing. The text of this column is enclosed in a photocopy.

An extensive columns, usually one third of the page written in small font. The columns contain news, ca 20 games, 25 diagrammed problems and ca 50 other problems in notation.

Included is detailed program of the famous London 1851 international tournament titled „Prospectus of the Chess Tournament at the St. George's Chess Club“. (Conditions of the Tournament, The Provincial Matches, Consultation Match, Rules and Regulations of the Tournament). The program was published separately outside the chess column on page 128 (in Supplement for February 17).

The Prospectus is one page long (picture 3).
