Rodinna kronika 1863/1864 (= complete volume 4).

Praha – Czechia, October 3, 1863 – March 25, 1864. Contemporary binding, spine lettered. (4) = title, index + 312 pages. Appendix. Size ca 29 x 23 cm. The weight 760 grams. In Czech. Whyld page 379, Mokry 386.

Poor: binding is damaged, spine is torn on several places, edges and rear cover rubbed to the cardboard. Book-block is cracked between pages 162 and 163. Some pages are torn with small chips, some pages are frayed at edges. Text is occasionally soiled/stained. Other general signs of use. Pages with chess columns are About good.

The volume consists of 26 issues marked 79-104. The first chess column published in issue 92 on 02/01/1864 and since then chess is in all issues until the end of the volume, total 13 columns.

Altogether 19 problems, the first 4 issues contain article „Navod ku hre sachove“ (a manual for beginners).

Editor is not stated. The editiors were probably Emanuel Vavra and Bohuslav Kroupa in the first issues, later well known chess composer Antonin Koenig.

The first chess column in the Rodinna kronika was published 02/01/1864 and is one of the oldest Czech columns. Older is only the column in the magazine Besidka ctenarska in 1863 (Brno) and in the magazine Zlata Praha, which started 01/01/1864.
