Neumann (1838 - 1881), German chess master from East Prussia, was co-editor of the Neuen Berliner Schachzeitung and had some success at chess tournaments. This issue begins with the presentation of the basic rules. Selected games follow (including von Neumann, Anderssen, Morphy, W. Steinitz, J. Kolisch, L. Paulsen, L. Kieseritzky). This is followed by sections on endgames and the history of chess. Berlin, Springer, 1879. L/N 922; Kieler Schach Katalog 2974.
