Andrzej Kwilecki
SZACHY W POZNANIU 1990
(CHESS IN POZNAŃ 1839-1988). First edition.
The book contains the original dedication of the author Andrzej Kwilecki.
The book presents 150 years of chess history in the city of Poznań, starting from the first half of the 19th century. The oldest information about organized chess life in Poland comes from the capital of Greater Poland. It concerns correspondence chess games played in the years 1839-1840 between Poznań and Berlin clubs. This event was described in the first chapter of the book, in which we can also read about the activities of Antoni Jeżewski, the performance of Ignacy Kopa at the tournament in Barmen and the first Polish and German chess clubs in Poznan. In the following chapters of the publication we will find many other interesting stories, facts and anecdotes related to Poznań chess and chess players from the partitions, the times of the Second Polish Republic, and then post-war years in the PRL. In addition to the texts, the book contains archival photos and diagrams with 13 chess games related to Poznań chess players. This include parts: A. Szpiro - Z. Panowicz (Poznań 1935), A. Rubinstein - A. Wojciechowski (Poznań, 14/03/1931) and H. Ereńska-Radzewska - A. Brustman (Warsaw 1986). Edition of the book: 3000 copies.
