A popular manual with many game descriptions in French, which has seen many enhanced and revised editions since 1718. "The chess department is located in the third volume on pages 202 to 330. The two folded plates show representations of chess pieces and trictrac positions.

Condition: Old simple paper cover. Crack at gutter inside on a few positions. Paper creased and yellowed. Edges un-trimmed.
