"CHESS, Volume 4" edited by B.H.Wood. Published in hardback by CHESS, Sutton Coldfield in 1939. First Edition. 450pp. Plus index. Magazine numbers 37-48 (Sept 1938 - Aug 1939). The volume is in Good Plus overall condition. All the magazines are in very good, clean condition with only a minor age related speck to be seen, here and there. The internal pages appear to be inscription and annotation free. The binding is the usual proprietor brown colour. The binding is strong and the volume stands straight with no shelf lean. The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. I would rate the internal pages of this volume in Very Good condition and the binding in Good Plus condition. The page edge blocks have tanned somewhat but this appear to be from age more than from handling. Games and positions are in English descriptive notation.
