Reti (R.): Masters of the Chess Board. Translated from the German by M.A.Schwendemann. Bell 1933. 1st English Edn.
Very good bright cloth, with jacket which has been repaired and covered with clear tape. Previous owner name (G.Whatmough) on endpaper. 211pp. 66 games, biographies and styles of the great masters from Anderssen to Alekhine. "One of the finest works on the game."
Included is a typed and signed letter from J. du Mont to a previous owner of the book G.Whatmaugh in which he confirms that the book is written entirely by Reti. He also mentions the reason for omitting a section which was in the German edition, and also how he had to "translate the translation" of the American edition which was "hopelessly inadequate."
