Sergeant (Philip W.): Morphy's Games of Chess. Being a Selection of 300 of his Games with Annotations and Biographical Introduction. Bell 1919. 3rd Edn.
Original green cloth, spine edges rubbed otherwise good. 352pp., portrait. "Brings together for the first time...a great quantity of material from all quarters."
I believe this to be Philip Sergeant's own copy in which he has made numerous notes and annotations perhaps in preparation for a new edition. Also included are 3 signed letters from John Watkinson, the first editor of the British Chess Magazine, and leading Lancashire player, and one letter from B. Goulding Brown, chess historian, all addressed to Sergeant concerning his book.
