Jose Raul Capablanca
during a simul in Czech town Turnov
July 1929
photo size 16.5 x 9.5 cm
Good: there are 4 tiny, barely noticeable pin holes in the corners. Otherwise light signs of use, back side slightly stained, with some erasable pencil note. There is almost unvisible blind stamp of the photographer (most probably V. J. Linhart, Turnov) in the right bottom corner.
J. R. Capablanca during his simul in Czech town Turnov in July 1929, during the 8th Congress of the North-Bohemian county of the Czechoslovak Chess Union.
Capablanca stands in front, thinking about the move. I am not familiar with the man next to him. The man in the background at the table (the first of the four standing men) is Czech master Karel Opocensky. The photo shows about 100 participants and spectators.

Biographical data:
Jose Raul Capablanca (1888-1942), World champion 1921-27.
