Game Miroslav Filip – Salo Flohr

in Marianske Lazne 1956

Good to very good: light signs of use, no flaws. Some writings on the back.

GM Filip as White (in the photo on the right) plays against Salo Flohr (he is visible from behind). The position on the board shows the game after 15th or 16th move of White. The game was draw after 33 moves.

Miroslav Filip was the winner of the tournament while Salo Flohr finished fourth. Some other participants were Ragozin, Pachman, Stahlberg, Pilnik, Rejfir, etc. (20 players round robin).

Biographical data:

GM Miroslav Filip (1928-2009), the best Czechoslovak player in 1950s, one of world's best chess players around 1960, World Championship Candidate 1956 and 1962. Multiple Czechoslovak chess champion. He played in 12 olympiads

Salo Flohr (1908 - 1983),  Czechoslovak, later Soviet GM, one of the world top players in 1930s, World championship candidate.
