DESCRIPTION

"WERELDKAMPIOENSCHAP SCHAKEN 1948"

SIGNED BY ALL THE PARTICIPANTS!!

LIM. ED. WITH THE VERY RARE DUST JACKET!!

Euwe, Dr. Max: "WERELDKAMPIOENSCHAP SCHAKEN 1948". 's Gravenhage - Moskou. Analyses by Dr. Max Euwe. Met medewerking van: L. G. Eggink, Dr. J. Hannak, H. J. J. Slavekoorde en G. W. J. Zittersteyn.

Lochem, "De Tijdstroom", 1948. Original publisher black cloth edition, with gold embossed title print on front cover and spine. 252 pages, with 12 photos on 6 plates printed recto and verso, after pages 80, 96, 144, 160, 224 and 240. Bound with uncut pages, with the top edge of the pages tinted grayish blue. One leaf, with the handwritten signatures of the five participants Botwinnik, Euwe, Keres, Reshevsky and Smyslow is inserted into this limited "black cloth" edition of 203 copies (according to Stikuw) after Title page25,6 x 18,2 cm. In Dutch.

Very good: Dust jacket is tanned and worned near the edges and spine, with a small loss (7 x 6 cm) in the upper outer corner of the back cover, and a tiny one in the corner at the top of the spine next to the back cover. Light blows to the ends of the spine, more visible at the top. Inside the front cover is a small label from a famous Dutch store with a slight notation (it looks like a pencil, probably easy to erase). Inside the front cover is a small label from a famous Dutch store with a slight notation (it looks like a pencil, probably easy to erase). In the first safeguard is a purchase invoice from a former owner (W. Damkot), and behind the Half Title page, under copyright, is the signature of that former owner with a date in ink. 4 pages have half (or part) with a strong darkening due to the old presence of some page or clipping inside: Half Title page, pages 90-91 (due to an publisher "postcard") and page 252. Otherwise, inside the book is in very good condition.

L/N 5732. Kieler Schachkatalog 3637.

A unique book, and finding a copy with the dust jacket is very difficult, as it is almost always missing. It is true, that the rare times that it meets the dustjacket, it is not usually in very good condition, because the type of paper is very fragile.
