1 plate with a diagram. 1 plate with a portrait. A collection of chess problems by A. F. Mackenzie 1887 - 1905. Edited by Alain C. White. A.C. White's "Christmas Series", Vol. I. Without the printed Christmas greeting. In the introduction, the author gives a summary of his own career in problem composition. In the sequel he deals with aspects of problem construction, including such subjects as purity, complexity of two-movers compared with three-movers, duals, adjudication, coincidences, resemblances, originality, etc. there follow 282 of his composition, with solutions and notes by various composers. XCIV, 476 pages, 2 leaves. L/N. 2571. Betts 33-55. New York, Graham, 1905.

Condition: Original maroon binding. Paper yellowed. Slight wear.
