The book of the Sixth American Chess Congress containing the games of the international chess tournament held at New York in 1889. All 432 games from the tournament with annotations in English by Steinitz. A few diagrams. Descriptive notation. Contains the report of the Congress Committee. Subscription list covering all 500 copies. Game index. Cross table. Chigorin and Weiss won. 2 leaves (incl. Title), XXXVIII, 1 leaf, 490 pages, 2 leaves. 27 cm. Original red cloth with chessboard illustration on front and back cover. New York 1891. L/N 5232. Betts 25 - 26. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies.

Condition: Publishers original red cloth. Front and back cover nearly loose and re-inforced with tape. Spine damaged. Paper yellowed. Inside VG. This copy needs a repair. Copy no. 288 issued to Mr. Westerfield, New York.
