Four vintage volumes of "The British Chess Magazine" in uniform binding. They are Volumes 35, 36, 37 and 38. This corresponds to the years 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1918. Includes all indices. Each volume is in Very Good condition. They are inscription free apart from the occasional pencilled annotation of a previous owner. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean on any of the volumes. Internally the pages are in very clean condition and the volumes have clearly been well cared for in the century since they were published. I flicked through each volume and only found slight damage to two pages in the 1915 edition (see scans). These are scarce and sought after World World One volumes in remarkably good condition for their age. It appears that they have not been read much since the date of publication as there is still a World War One newspaper article on one of the pages. There is no foxing in any of the volumes. The page edge blocks have tanned a little from age but apart from that they are clean. Slight white staining to the rear board of the 1917 volume (see scan). 440pp+424pp+412pp+376pp. Four lovely looking volumes that would grace any chess book collection.
