"The [Chess] Games of Greco" edited by Prof. Louis Hoffmann. Published in hardback by George Routledge & Sons in 1900. First Edition. 246pp.Betts 13-48. This scarce little (approx.4" × 6.5") volume is in Good condition for its age. The binding is good although there is a mild shelf lean present. The boards are clean although faded and slightly spotted along the spine. The gilt lettering is still strong. Internally the book is in Good Plus condition. It appears to have at some point in time the property of well known chess player and author Leopold Hoffer as there is a penned dedication on the front endpaper (see scan) that reads: "L. Hoffer Esq. With the editors compliments". On the opposite page there is what appears to be the pencilled initials of a later owner. On the title page there is a penned price (see scan). The remainder of the volume appears to be inscription and annotation free. The internal pages have tanned a little from age but are clean and it is obvious that this book has been cared for over the years. The book is free of foxing. The page edge blocks have tanned but this appears to be from age rather than from handling. Further scanned images are available on request. Postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.50.
