DESCRIPTION
Opening ceremony of the Treybal Memorial in Prague 1946. Original photo from Frantisek Hertl.
Behind the speaker’s desk is the chairman of the Czechoslovak Chess Union Dionysius Polansky. In the front row on the right is the well-recognizable Czech grandmaster Oldrich Duras.
The Treybal Memorial took place in Prague from 3 to 22 October 1946 and was won by Najdorf ahead of Stoltz and Trifunovic. The other participants were Gligoric, Pachman, Golombek, Guimard, Foltys, Sajtar, Katetov, Kottnauer, Zita, Opocensky and Rohacek.
