Original red blind stamped cloth covers with gilt chessboard on front cover. Inner hinges loose otherwise very good condition.
A supplement to The Chess-Player's Handbook containing all the most important modern improvements in the openings, illustrated by actual games; a revised code of chess laws; and a collection of Mr Morphy's matches, etc. in England and France.
First published in 1860 this book contained an early collection of Morphy's games with 142 examples "accompanied by critical and explanatory observations" by Staunton.
