DESCRIPTION

1977 "HET EINDSPEL IN DE SCHAAKPARTIJ"

Limited and numbered edition of only 14 copies

By Christiaan M. Bijl

Copy No.13 of a Limited and numbered Edition of only 14 copies.

Haarlem, self-published, 1977. Original simply softback binding without inscriptions, only the Title handwritten on the spine. 6 unnumbered sheets (including 2 Half Title pages, 1 Title page, 1 Edition page and 2 blanks) + 384 pages. 29,3 x 21 cm. In Dutch.

Good to very good: The most important defect is the wrinkles of the covers and a small tear in the middle of the lateral outer edge of the back cover. Some slight wrinkle in the outer corners, more visible in the lower one. Slight cracking on the spine between pages 78-79. Otherwise a copy in very good interior condition.

A spectacular book, in which the Author puts all his passion for Chess, with very complete analyzes, and a perfect selection of classic endings. A monumental work.

Regarding the data of the content and the Edition, I give the floor to Author (Christiaan, thank you so much by the information):

"About Het eindspel in de schaakpartij I can tell you the following.

At the time (1974/75, 1975/1976 and 1976/1977) I was the editor of the club magazine of Schaak Vereniging Schalkwijk, my Chess Club in Haarlem, the Netherlands.

At the beginning of 1977 I moved from Haarlem to Leidschendam (a suburb of The Hague), because from 1 January 1977 I started working at the Dutch Royal Library, The Hague, as a curator for the chess and checkerbook collection. I then had to cancel my membership of Schaak Vereniging Schalkwijk.

Het eindspel in de schaakpartij (The endgame in chess) was a special release for all (about 75) members of the chess club. It was published during the 1976/77 chess season and had 384 pages.

But 15 additional copies of this special supplement were printed for me.

One unnumbered copy is in my possession, bound in linen; the remaining 14 copies were simply 'bound' and numbered. Number 1 is in my possession.

All remaining numbered 13 copies were not for sale, but I donated them after publication to various collectors of chess books."
