DESCRIPTION

1954 "MATCH FRANCE - U. R. S. S. PARIS"

Extremely rare and scarce, and virtually impossible to find

SOUVENIR ALBUM DEDICATED AND SIGNED BY A. BARATZ

Baratz, Abraham: "MATCH FRANCE - U. R. S. S. PARIS 1954".

Paris, self-edition, 1954. Beautiful souvenir, composed of a set of a Sheet with a "photocopied" (not a simple photocopy) Preface written by Tartakower (probably Tartakower wrote it and later it was "photocopied" to give a copy of this souvenir to each of the players and / or authorities, friends, etc. But it is certain that few copies were made), 1 Sheet with the 1st encounter, 1 Sheet with the 2nd encounter, and 15 portraits of the players drawn by Baratz (I assume they were reproduced in a similar way to the Tartakower Preface to make multiple copies), inside a huge folder. Unfortunately Muffang's drawing portrait is missing. I don't know why. The previous owner did not know why, and said that the set was complete. I suspect it is incomplete. However, it is a unique and absolutely wonderful item. Folder: 38,5 x 31,7 cm. Sheets: 36,5 x 30 cm. In French.

Good: General wear of the folder, with some defects as can be seen in the photos, and with some tiny holes that have affected the entire set, as can be clearly seen against the light in the Portrait of Bernstein.

Not in L/N. There is a Bulletin about this Match (L/N 5177). In the following link you can see it: http://www.chesslund.com/detail.asp?id=15116&n=France---URSS-Paris-1954 .

I sincerely think that it is a spectacular and very special item.

Interesting link about Abraham Baratz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Baratz .
