St Petersburg 1914: International Chess Tournament
By Siegbert Tarrasch, edited by Dale Brandreth, Caissa Editions, Yorklyn 1993. 267pp.
Red cloth covers, practically as new.
This is an English translation, by Robert Maxham, of Tarrasch's famous book on the tournament: Das Grossmeisterturnier zu St. Petersburg im Jahre 1914, Nürnberg 1914, although Brandreth does not specifically name this book.
In addition to Tarrasch's fine annotations, Brandreth has included additional notes to the games of the first four rounds by George Marco taken from Wiener Schachzeitung, and further notes from various other sources.
St. Petersburg 1914 was one of the greatest chess tournaments and classic games from this event have been endlessly included in anthologies ever since. Tarrasch's book with his humorous and insightful annotations became a virtual text-book on how to play chess at the top level.
Postage will be charged at cost; Royal Mail approx £3 in UK, £8 economy to Europe, or £13 tracked and signed.
Reductions for additional items and large parcels will be sent by courier which is much cheaper
