Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games: Volume 1 1485-1866
By David Levy and Kevin O'Connell, Oxford University Press, Oxford 1981. 527pp.
Black cloth covers with dust jacket. Excellent condition.
An ambitious work which aimed to include every important game of chess played from 1485 up to 1866. Over 4,000 games are given in languageless algebraic notation.
Unfortunately no further volumes of this work appeared and Kevin O'Connell disposed of his Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games research material in an auction of his personal chess library in November 2000.
