The Westminster Chess Club Papers. Vol I-V. April 1868-April 1873.

A Monthly Journal of chess, whist, games of skill and the drama. Volume I, April 1868 - Volume V, April 1872. London, Kent; Edinburgh, Menzies, and Dublin, McGlashan & Gill, 1868 - 1869. Many diagrams and illustrations. Descriptive notation. The reason for the publication of the magazine is written in the foreword: "There is among Chess - players an insatiable desire to see their exploits in print ..." a. with chess contributions, problems and many games, was looked after by Mossopp. "Includes whist, humerous poetry, drama notes etc." (Betts) L/N 6131; van der Linde II, 123f; Betts 7 - 13. 

Volume I: 144 pages. Index.

Volume II: 202 pages, Index. The following pages (covers/back covers) are missing: 33/34, 47,48, 95/96, 97/98, 147/48, 167/68 and 185/86.

Volume III: 202 pages, index. Pages 49-54 and 63-68 are reproductions, skillfully made and inserted.

Volume IV: 224 pages, Index. 

Volume V: 206 pages, Index.

Condition: Bound in two volumes, in half leather with marbled boards and raised bands. Gilt print on spine. Paper is yellowed. A few spots inside.
