"The British Chess Magazine, 1972". Edited by Brian Reilly and published in hardback by the BCM in 1972. Volume 92. First Edition. 500pp. Includes index. All twelve monthly editions of the BCM for the seminal year of 1972, the year of the "Match of the Century " between Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer in Iceland. The volume is in Very Good condition. The binding is tight, the internal pages are all very clean. However, a previous owner has added light annotations to several pages. These are either in blue (written notes) or red (underlining only). I have flicked through the volume and counted 40 pages that have the blue notes and 10 pages that have the red (see scanned images, page 279 is by far the worst example). The volume also exhibits a very small shelf lean that might be able to be remedied by leaning it in the opposite direction. The page edge blocks are very clean. The gilt lettering to the spine is in excellent condition. The volume is free of foxing. There is a small damage dent on the bottom of the rear cover (see scan). The binding is uniform in colour and appears to be a couple of shades lighter than the regular BCM maroon binding. The true colour is slightly lighter than in the scanned pictures. Quite scarce.
