DESCRIPTION

"The Book of the Cambridge Springs International Tournament, 1904" by Fred Reinfeld. Published in hardback by The Black Knight Press in 1935. First Edition. 84pp. Betts 25-46. The book is in Good overall condition, for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean. The page edge is tanned, from age. The boards are faded, particularly so along the spine. The rear board is unevenly faded as though an object was placed on the book for a considerable amount of time in the past (see scan). Internally the book is in Good Plus condition. There are two previous owner's names (one crossed out) on the front endpaper but apart from this the volume is annotation free. It is free of foxing. The pages have tanned from age but that is only to be expected. In addition, in this auction lot there are 7 of the original tournament bulletins from the Cambridge Springs, 1904 tournament. They are numbered: 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Numbers 2 and 4 are signed by "G.E. Wainwright" who was British Amateur Champion in 1889 and came joint 2nd in the British Championships in 1907. He also played 5 times in Anglo-American Cable Matches between 1899-1909. These bulletins are fragile and a couple have dried liquid staining (8pp each, no staples) but are clean and inscription free apart from the Wainwright signatures. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Scarce. Further scanned images are available on request. Postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £2.50. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. Any questions, please just ask.
