Grandmaster Yuri Averbakh is a distinguished Russian gransmaster, who has enjoyed a long varied career as a top-class player, endgame theoretician, judge of chess composition, writer, editor and arbiter. Averbakh, born 1922, is the oldest GM and was president of the Russian Chess Fedration 1972-1977.
The book contains Averbakh's chess career, biographical detail, 60 selected games 1943-1975 annnotated in detail, tournament and match results, index of opponents and index of openings.
