Nina Hruskova-Belska (1925-2015) was one of the most successful women players in the history of Czechoslovakia. She won the country championship seven times (1943, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1952, 1953, 1956). In 1950, FIDE awarded her the International Women Master. In 1956, she became the first woman to receive the title of International Arbiter.
Elisaveta Bykova (1913-1989) was Woman World Champion in the years 1953-1956 and 1958-1962.
